Getting motivated to start a diet can be one of the toughest parts of fitness.
One of the keys to starting a successful diet is timing.
Starting a diet on a Monday can keep your level of motivation high enough to keep you on track of your fitness goals.
Why is it best to start your diet on Monday?
It’s all about the psychology of a Monday.
Monday is the day after Sunday. You learned that in Kindergarten, right? It is never a good idea to start your diet on a Sunday because most people choose to relax and chill on Sundays. Trying to start on a relaxing day can really ruin your motivation to keep it going, if you even have the motivation to start it at all. Don’t make your diet impossible to start.
Monday is the start of the typical week, meaning the change in diet will be much easier. This is because school or work will bring new challenges that you must deal with. It’s much easier to add another challenge to a bunch of challenges you already have to deal with. And believe it or not, you are much more motivated on a Monday to handle challenges than any other day because of the relaxing day before.
You can even prepare the next day’s meals on Sunday afternoon. Plan out your meals for the week and go shopping for those fruits and vegetables that may be nowhere to be found at your house. Pack tomorrows lunch, so you don’t have to worry about it in the morning. Prepare Monday’s healthy breakfast. Just make things easier for yourself Sunday afternoon, and watch the stress of starting a diet wash away.
You eat much differently on a Monday.
Face it; it’s so much easier to stuff your face full of too much unhealthy food on the weekend. All you have to do is get up and the refrigerator is right there. On Monday, you most likely won’t have that opportunity because you won’t have as easy access to the foods you have at home.
If you packed healthy food for lunch the day before, you should have nothing but healthy foods to eat. Starving yourself isn’t an option, so you will have no choice but to eat them. Plus, you will be too distracted by work or school to really notice the new, healthy foods you will be eating.
Monday can keep your motivation up for the rest of the week.
Results have shown that people that start their diet on a Monday are more likely to keep it up during the upcoming weeks. Starting on a Monday and planning out your meals on a Sunday should help keep your motivation to keep it up throughout the week. If you can keep the diet up for a week, you should start to get accustomed to new change making it much easier to keep up.
